Report by the Irish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in partnership with ourselves here at TelLab, the Marine Institute, Inland Fisheries Ireland and the UK Environmental Agency.

The report recommends the use of passive sampling devices such as Chemcatcher® “as a tier 1 screening mechanism whereby exceedance of some specific threshold value would lead to further monitoring”.

Video produced by Westcountry Rivers (UK) showing the use of Chemcatcher® passive samplers for monitoring acid herbicides at ten locations on the River Fowey in Cornwall in the South West of England.

Position paper on passive sampling techniques for the monitoring of contaminants in the aquatic environment, published in Trends in Environmental Analytical Chemistry 8 (2015) 20–26.

This paper, based on the outcome of discussions at a NORMAN Network-supported workshop in November 2014 aimed to provide a common position of passive sampling community experts on concrete actions required to foster the use of passive sampling techniques for contaminant risk assessment and routine  in aquatic systems.

Video produced by the NORMAN Association, in collaboration with the European Commission, explaining the role of passive sampling in the implementation of the Water Framework Directive.
